GEMSS Lecture: Tanya Tiffany: “Diego Velázquez’s Mother Jerónima de la Fuente and the Visual Rhetoric of Sanctity”

The Graduate Early Modern Student Society (UW-Madison) is proud to co-sponsor an upcoming lecture on “Diego Velázquez’s Mother Jerónima de la Fuente and the Visual Rhetoric of Sanctity” by Professor Tanya Tiffany (UW-Milwaukee). The lecture will take place Friday, November 9th at 4pm in 104 Van Hise Hall. 

Tanya Tiffany is an Associate Professor of Renaissance and Baroque Art at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her interests include Golden-Age Spanish painting and sculpture; gender and race in the early modern world; feminine devotion in Post-Tridentine Spain; seventeenth-century artistic theory; early modern texts and images; prints and visual culture in Spain; and artistic exchange between Spain and Italy. The lecture is free and all are welcome to attend.
